Are you feeling a little adventurous? Good, then you have come to the right place because in my post below you will find a rundown of the top three adventurous activities you can do to get an adrenaline rush this summer, as well as some suggestions on where to do them. Read on to find out more.
Climb a mountain
Yep, if you want to have a go at something genuinely adventurous, climbing a mountain will do it. Of course, such activities are not to be done on the spur of the moment. In fact, they need to be well planned, and trained for, as well as done in conjunction with organised and experienced local guides to ensure your safety.
Once you have decided to scale a summit, the only other choice left to make is which peak it will be. Of course, there are a myriad of exciting places with stunning mountainous regions to explore.
One such place that you may wish to explore is Tanzania, in Africa, where you can climb the stunning live volcano that is Kilimanjaro. Alternatively, the peak of Aconcagua in Argentina may be calling your name, and at the height of 6,962 m, it isn’t hard to see why. Then there is the legendary Machu Picchu in Peru, which is not only a mountain to be climbed but is also home to an ancient pre-Columbian city that you can explore when you reach the peak. The only problem you’ll have is deciding which one to visit first.
Dance the night away at a festival
Of course, trekking up a mountain isn’t everyone idea of a good time, and it certainly isn’t the only option when it comes to having some overseas adventures this summer.
In fact, a popular choice is to attend a music festival in another country, something that combines seeing famous music artist, dancing, and meeting new people from all over the world.
If you are looking to stay closer to home, then a festival in Europe is probably the best bet. Try Sziget in Budapest, Hungary which runs from 9th August, and where the Arctic Monkeys and the Gorillaz are headlining this year.
Alternatively, there is Benicassim, in Spain. A festival where you will be able to watch Kasabian and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, as well as enjoy the bright sunshine and beach.
Then there is the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, and Burning Seed, which is Oz’s version of Burning Man. Perfect if you are looking for festival fun that is little more far-flung.
Swim in some of the most wonderful and weird places on Earth
Lastly, if attending a music festival sounds like a task that will leave you hot and bothered maybe you would rather do something to cool down instead?
A good start is swimming in the shipping container that has been turned into a public pool in Berlin, or why not head over to Iceland and found in the warm waters of the Blue Lagoon?
Of course, if you are looking for an activity with a tad more excitement you can do no better than visiting Victoria Falls in Zambia and taking a dip in the Devil’s Pool. A small reservoir that is only safe to swim in from mid-August to mid-January. Although there is still a 100m drop down, making it a real adventure, that’s for sure!
